✶ What program/brush do you use to draw your comic?

The first chapter of Ghost Island was drawn traditionally and scanned using a mechanical pencil! The rest have been illustrated using Clip Studio Paint with varying pencils brushes. Chapter 4 and onwards are drawn with a dry ink brush!

✶ How did you start making a webcomic?

The process of building the foundations for what will eventually be your webcomic should be long and agonizing, at least it was for me. I wanted so badly to jump straight into illustrating pages that I realized only after I had finished my first attempt at chapter 1, I hated what I had written for the story, and I scrapped all of it. I took a whole year to step back and rewrite everything at least 20 times until I was absolutely happy with it. I’m still rewriting parts of the story as I go. If you want to create a webcomic, my advice is to have at least 10 chapters worth of script written, as well as character designs and a lore/story masterdoc before you even begin thumbnailing anything.

✶ How long does it take you to produce a chapter?

Entirely dependent on my schedule and artflow. Most chapters average at about 40 pages and have taken up to 3 months each. Most pages I’ve gotten done in a day was 4.

✶ What’s the intended audience of Ghost Island?

While there's no exact age demographic, my hope is that the readers of Ghost Island remain a mature and thoughtful crowd. The story has various dark aspects and more serious themes in the future that I hope will be read with the viewer’s own discretion in mind. Each chapter will be labeled with its respective content warnings when necessary.

✶ How do you stay motivated/dedicated?

I think the positive reception I’ve gotten towards Ghost Island has been my number one motivator above all. Seeing people enjoy and consume my work has definitely given me a huge push. I also love seeing the final product, and being able to sit back and admire my creation once its all said and done makes all the hard work worth it.

I post regularly about Ghost Island on all of my social medias! I’m most active in my Discord server. You can also see exclusive work and have early access to chapters on my Patreon!

✶ Will Ghost Island ever be published physically?

That’s the plan! I hope to get my first volume published once I finish chapter 5 or 6.

✶ Do you have any help working on the comic?

I have a wonderful colouring team that helps me add tones to the pages! I also get lots of feedback from my friends when writing.

Absolutely! I love seeing people’s ocs!

In my Discord server! Sometimes I even feature people’s characters in the backgrounds of panels.

✶ What inspired Ghost Island’s story and art style?

Ghost Island is essentially an amalgamation of all my inspirations and favourite media. I began developing the story over 4 years ago during the height of my shonen manga craze. I was a big fan of Haikyuu!!, Hunter X Hunter, BNHA, etc. and I really wanted to create my own manga! Of course once I started to stray away from those stories my work became a little more westernized, but the anime-inspiration definitely still peeks through in some aspects. When it comes to the story of Ghost Island, I’m very intrigued by the concept of death and the human condition. I really wanted to explore what our world would look like if the soul could persist after death, and what it would do, and why. There’s many other elements in the story that are heavily inspired by the media I consume, like old Hollywood stars and movies, gritty 70’s films, and music.
